A Surface unit that is optimized for developers to create new Surface applications. A developer unit includes software that is required to develop applications with the Surface SDK, including Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition, Microsoft Expression Web, and Microsoft XNA Framework. In contrast, a commercial unit is optimized for user environments and includes only the software that is needed to run Surface applications.
